Have You Planned Your Cruise From Bombay To Goa This Christmas?

Angriya Cruise

Have you made plans for this Christmas-New Years?

India is fortunate to have a destination like Goa which is synonymous with party lovers. Until now, one could opt to directly fly into the island state or if you were in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore or nearby, you had the luxury of driving down à la Dil Chahta Hai style. The journey by train has been equally appreciated where one passes through the charm of the Konkan region.

In our country, we have a huge coastline of over 7,500 kms, however, India is home to only 128 ports as compared to 2,400 in Japan and 1,100 in China.

Indians have not really witnessed a long duration sea ride within our domestic coastal areas. Generally we may be lucky to land up using a short-distance government ferry ride that operates only between popular tourist spots. However, the experience of a grand cruise experience is still a far-flung dream for many.

‘Angriya’, a lavish cruise has been recently inducted where riders can now enjoy a memorably ride of the western waters from Mumbai to Goa. The newly refurbished cruise, which also happens to be India’s first luxury cruise-liner, has already started its operations on 20th October.

The government is certainly expecting a huge boost to tourism through this venture thereby earning large revenues with an increase of 50%. Going forward, Mumbai, Chennai and Kochi are three Indian cities that are looking at developing cruise lining facilities as the basic infrastructure to set up these services is already in place.

Angriya has been built in Japan and is 131 meter long with shelters upto seven decks. The cruise will depart from the Purple Gate of Princess Docks in Mumbai at 4pm and arrive in Mormugao in South Goa the next day at 9am. Likewise, the cruise will then depart from Goa at 4pm and arrive in Mumbai the next day at 9am.

The rooms have been priced from Rs. 8,250 per person, which may or may not come with an attached bathroom. Some rooms come with big windows and portholes, others with no windows at all. Your ticket fare includes three meals- snacks, lunch and dinner, while the kids can also enjoy play activities onboard. You will witness one of the best views of the stunning Konkan coastline from the infinity pool on the deck.

We must travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us!
