Kabir Khan’s 83 starring Ranveer Singh is one highly awaited film of the year. The movie follows the cricketing journey of the legend Kapil Dev when he was the newly-appointed captain of the Indian Cricket team and how they defeated West Indies in the final of the World Cup in 1983.
The storyline will not just project the coming-of-age of a cricketing team, but of a young nation in the eyes of the world. Definitely a chapter in the Indian Cricket that deserves to be told or like how Ranveer once quoted,
The man himself Kapil Dev is actively a part of the prep and shoot of the film guiding Ranveer to perfect his act. Dev’s 23-year old daughter, Amiya, too has turned assistant director with this film. Sandeep Patil’s son Chirag, who is playing Ranveer’s father in the film, told Mumbai Mirror that though both their fathers played the 1983 World cup together, he met Amiya only recently.
Meanwhile, talking about the schedule, it’s reported that Team 83 will be heading to Dharamshala in the next few days for a bonding and training session after which, they will head to London, Scotland to begin shooting for the film from May 15.
Ranveer Singh will lead the ensemble star cast in 83. Apart from him, the film has Ammy Virk as Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Saahil Khattar as Syed Kirmani, Jiiva as Krishnamachari Srikanth and Pankaj Tripathi as manager PR Man Singh. Tahir Bhasin and Saqib Saleem will also be seen in the film. Singer Harrdy Sandhu is all set to make his Bollywood debut with 83. In the film, he will be seen as all-rounder Madan Lal who took all the important wickets in the 1983 World Cup Final.
The Kabir Khan directorial will trace India’s historic victory at the 1983 cricket world cup. It will be Ranveer’s first trilingual film to be made in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu set to be released in April 2020.
