Priyanka Chopra shot to fame with her crowning at Miss World in the year 2000. Later she carved a name for herself within the big bad world of Bollywood. As an outsider to the industry, she is one of the very few who has sustained for nearly two decades and still going strong.
Chopra got married to her singer beau Nick Jonas in a Christian-style wedding on Saturday at the majestic Umaid Bhawan Palace at Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Overall her fans were delighted when the couple shared the first glimpses of the Mehendi ceremony. However, there were some who were upset with the videos of fireworks at her wedding venue.
The reason people felt let down was because she is an ambassador of Breath Free, a campaign-related to asthma, in which she had urged people not to burn crackers during Diwali. Social Media users took to Twitter and expressed their unhappiness, while some even cracked jokes, calling her ‘hypocrite’. The Breath Free campaign promotes inhalers use as a way of immediate treatment.
In September, Chopra had partnered with Cipla Respiratory to spread awareness about it and break the stigma in its treatment. She suggested a timely intervention to help one have a better quality of life.
During the campaign, Priyanka had said,
“As someone who is asthmatic, I can say that there is a social stigma associated with asthma and its therapy. It is evident that asthma is on the rise in India and there is little awareness about the most effective therapy on offer.”
On Saturday evening, Jodhpur AQI indexed was recorded as ‘unhealthy’ at 170 PMI by the real-time AQI provider website aqicn.org.
Here are some of the social media reactions, many of them which were in poor taste for the newly married Desi Girl :

Oh. The “green noiseless pollution less” cracker follow Christian rituals. That’s fine then. Only Brahminical Diwali causes dogs to be scared and her asthma to flare up (her words, not mine) https://t.co/sYumyVC1Rh

Fireworks at #PriyankaKiShaadi – wonder if these are green fireworks, certified by anti cracker activists & the green police? Is PC going to justify the crackers or ignore the outcry?https://t.co/QvSE0LHjxn
