Rajiv Kapoor Will Make A Come Back To Big Screen Soon

The three sons of the first family of Bollywood – Randhir, Rishi and Rajiv all made their journeys through the big screen. While Rishi Kapoor stood out as one of the most loved romantic heroes, Randhir Kapoor did not make it that big.

The third and the youngest brother, Rajiv Kapoor managed doing only a handful of movies after he debuted in Rajiv Mehra’s Ek Jaan Hain Hum in 1983. Later junior Kapoor starred in Ram Teri Ganga Meli  in 1985 alongside Madakini and eventually gave up acting after his last onscreen appearance in a movie called Zimmedaar in 1990.

However, as per latest media reports, Rajiv Kapoor is all set to return to the multiplex big screen with Ashutosh Gowariker’s film, Toolsidas Junior. The movie will be directed by Mridul who had also directed Missed Call (2005). The director has worked with Gowariker in the past for his TV Show Everest and has also tried his hand at writing dialogues.

While Rajiv Kapoor has been named for this movie, rest of the cast is yet to be finalised. Ashutosh’s spokesperson confirmed the news and said,

“When Ashutosh heard the story, he immediately fell in love with it. It’s a father-son story revolving around a sport. Rajiv started shooting for the film on Tuesday. The makers are aiming to release the film next year.”

Rajiv Kapoor was also the producer for Aishwarya Rai – Akshaye Khanna starrer Aa Ab Laut Chalen (1999) and Executive Producer for PremGranth (1996) and Henna (1991).

While the Lagaan fame Ashutosh himself is gearing up to direct his period drama Panipat that features Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Sanjay Dutt and Padmini Kolhapure, the Kapoors have been going through a bit turbulent times. In August, the news of selling off the iconic Kapoor Studios in Chembur, Mumbai was announced, while the matriarch Krishnaraj Kapoor passed away last month. Speculations are also rife that Rishi Kapoor has been unwell for a while and has shifted to New York with wife Neetu Kapoor briefly for his pending treatment.
