How Holidays can go so so wrong!
Techies 29-year-old Vishnu Viswanath and his wife 30-year-old Meenakshi Moorthy were visiting the famous Yosemite National Park, in the State of California when destiny met its fate. It was not clear how the couple fell from the cliff or what were they doing at the time of the incident.
The couple had completed their graduation from the College of Engineering in Chengannur in 2006 in computer science and engineering and had moved to the US for job. As reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, the couple had recently shifted from New York after Viswanath took a job as a systems engineer at Cisco Systems Inc., based out of San Jose on the West Coast.
The couple’s college also shared a message for them. It said,
“Our hearts go to the friends and family members of this lovely couple. May their souls rest in peace.”
Park rangers recovered both the bodies that supposedly fell from a height of 800 feet below Taft Point. This is the edge upto where the visitors can walk along with a granite ledge that doesn’t have a railing. The park officials released an official statement on Monday saying,
“Yosemite National Park continues to investigate this case, which will take several weeks.”
As per the couples social media accounts, they were extremely fond of travelling and also ran a website called “Holiday and Happily Ever Afters”. They narrated their travel adventures and also described themselves as a ‘dream doer duo’. Meenakshi also captioned one of her images as “diagnosed with the curious case of interminable travel bug.”
Ironically some of her social media posts warned the followers of the dangers of falling from cliffs and tall buildings while trying to take spectacular photos.
Jamie Richards , the park’s spokesman was quoted as saying in the report that,
“We still do not know what caused them to fall. We’re trying to understand what happened. We may never know, (but) from everything we see, this was a tragic fall.”
