The White House claims to have suspended the Press Pass of CNN White House’s Correspondent, Jim Acosta. A heated confrontation between the correspondent and President Trump on Wednesday is the reason behind suspending Acosta’s entry into the White House.
During a press conference, a day after America’s mid-term elections, Jim questioned Trump about the caravan of migrants heading from Latin America to the southern US Border. The CNN Reporter did not stop there and continued with another question on the Russian invasion. To this, the President said,
Trump looked extremely irritated with the series of questions and went on to call the correspondent “Rude,, Terrible Person”. He also told Acosta that CNN reports fake news and that makes them “an Enemy of the People”. A White House aide also unsuccessfully tried to grab the microphone from Jim amidst the on-going argument.
Trump appeared totally disinterested and ready to walk out as Acosta clung to the microphone. The President replied that he wanted the migrants to enter America but also added that they had to come legally and through a process.
Acosta persisted, saying,
“They are hundreds of miles away. That is not an invasion.”
To which the president snapped saying that it is him (Trump) that should be the one running the country. Trump also mocked the CNN reporter saying your ratings would have been higher if you ran your organisation better.
Waving his finger, Trump shamed Acosta by saying that CNN should be ashamed of itself for having Acosta work for them. He critiqued further saying that Jim should not be working for CNN.
Later when NBC reporter Peter Alexander took the mic for the next question, he stood by his media fraternity and defended Acosta as a “diligent reporter” — further earning Trump’s ire.
“I’m not a fan of yours either. To be honest. You aren’t the best,” he said.
