According to DU Express, Saimoon Farooqui, National Secretary of NSUI, said the university has “clearly refused to have enrolled” any student by that name and a mark sheet “with that serial number is not recorded”. The NSUI had written to Tamil Nadu University regarding the authenticity of the mark sheet.

State convenor of ABVP, Ashutosh Singh, said DU gave admission to Basoya after proper verification of his documents. “It is the process,” he said. Singh also said that NSUI is not an authority to “provide certificates to any person”, as reported by DU Express. He said that this controversy is a propaganda by NSUI.
