Has BJP Manifesto been sourced from Whatsapp admins? Promises “Crimes Against Women”

BJP Sankalp Patra

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday released its election manifesto for the Lok Sabha polls with several promises such as to provide pension for small and marginal farmers to ensure social security after 60 years of age.

Released at the party office in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah, the “Sankalpit Bharat Sashakt Bharat” also pledged zero tolerance towards terrorism. Speaking at the occasion, Shah said that whenever a history of India’s development will be written, the period between 2014 and 2019 will be written in “golden letters”.

Amongst many poll promises, the BJP’s manifesto on Page 32 Point No. 11 reads as below:

We have constituted the Women’s Security Division in the Home Ministry, and have made strict provisions for transferring the laws “in order to commit crimes against women”, in particular in a time-bound investigation and trail (incorrect spelling for trial) for rape.

Congress was prompt to take a pot shot at this statement by tweeting:

“At least one point in BJP’s manifesto reflects their true intentions.”

It is unclear whether this is a typo error, a casual proofreading, ignorant drafting or whether they actually mean every word written in the manifesto!

BJP Leaders have been known to make outrageous comments when it comes to women safety and respect.

In an shocking incident during Rajasthan Assembly elections in December 2018, a BJP candidate from Rajasthan has openly promised to support ‘Child Marriages’ in her constituency, if voted to power.

In October 2018, Shah’s one day visit to poll-bound Chhattisgarh had left a scar on several women’s life after the women who had come to attend the event were reportedly strip-checked by the police officers at the premises.

One cannot forget the infamous case of MJ Akbar, where he had blatantly refuted allegations of sexual harassment by nearly 19 women. He also did not indicate any decision to step down from his position and instead questioned the timing of these allegations just before the upcoming general elections. His party, BJP, never demanded his resignation either.

Lastly, the below article is a gift from all chowkidars to the Betis of India and must be remembered whenever BJP leaders talk about women empowerment or women safety.
