“Chowkidar Chor Hai” is the mood of the nation, says biggest Twitter poll in Indian political history

Twitter Chowkidars - BJP

In an emphatic online poll victory led by Odisha Congress State President, Niranjan Patnaik, the mood of the nation has rejected Narendra Modi’s Main Bhi Chowkidar campaign…………..as they still continue to firmly believe,

“Chowkidar Chor Hai!”

The twitter poll was undertaken for 24 hours starting March 17 and nearly 2 Lakh users had taken this poll. There were a total of 12k retweets and 9k likes on this twitter poll while nearly 16k users added their comments on it. This is one of twitter’s biggest online poll in recent electoral history.

The results were announced by Patnaik a while ago, complementing it with a graphical jibe of Chowkidar Chor Hai.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ campaign for upcoming Lok Sabha elections, urging everyone, who cares of the country, to come forward to fight corruption, dirt, social evils.

While sharing a video with a hashtag #MainBhiChowkidar, PM Modi urged people show how all Indians were “chowkidars (watchmen)” and kick-started the BJP’s campaign for the 2019 General Elections.

The Modi-led BJP launched this campaign to counter the Congress’s ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ jibe. Congress President Rahul Gandhi has time and again hurled the ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ barb at PM Modi over the alleged scam in the Rafale fighter jet deal.

“Whose chowkidari has he done?” the Congress president was quoting as saying by news agency Press Trust of India. The Prime Minister, he said, had only helped industrialists like Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksey and Anil Ambani.

Rahul Gandhi even tweeted mocking the campaign,

“You can keep trying Mr Modi, but the truth cannot be extinguished. Every Indian is saying it. #ChowkidarChorHai P.S: Do force Sushma ji to add “Chowkidar” to her handle. It’s looking very bad.”

It is noteworthy to mention that INC and Rahul Gandhi’s coined slogan of “Chowkidar Chor Hai” has managed to garner more votes despite the best efforts put in by right-wing supporters and editors of online right-wing portals.

Nikhil Dadhich is the same twitter user followed by Prime Minister who had hailed Gauri Lankesh’s murder in August 2017.
