Shambhulal Regar, is the same man who had lynched and burned Mohammed Afrazul in Rajsamand last year. He had also shot a video of his act where he justified the murder by saying that he would not allow ‘Love Jihad’. He said,
“Jihadists, leave our country or you will meet the same fate,” he later said in the video.
Now, it is not just shocking but also surprising that one of the political outfits in Uttar Pradesh has offered him a ticket to Lok Sabha polls from the constituency of Agra.
In March, the murder accused was also honoured in Jodhpur on the occasion of Ram Navami. Regar’s tableau was taken out by some men and honoured for his fight against ‘love jihad’.
Amit Jani, Uttar Pradesh Navnirman Sena (UPNS) President confirmed the information to News18 and even affirmed that the lynching accused will fight the elections from Jodhpur jail where he is presently lodged. The political party in Uttar Pradesh on Monday offered a ticket to the Rajsamand lynching accused, even claimed that he has accepted the offer and may fight Lok Sabha polls from Agra.
“The Uttar Pradesh Navnirman Sena has decided that for the Agra Lok Sabha seat, the party’s candidate will be Shambhulal Regar. He will contest the election from inside Jodhpur jail, where he is currently lodged,” he said.
Claiming that Regar has accepted the offer, Jani said that he has been in touch with the Rajsamand murder case accused and since they want a Hindutva face, there can be a no better candidate than him from the party, as per a report by India Times.
“We want only Hindutva faces to contest elections on our party’s tickets and there can be nobody better than him,” the report quoted Jani as saying. A formal announcement on Shambhulal Regar fighting from the Agra seat in Uttar Pradesh in Lok Sabha Election 2019 will be made soon, Jani said.
Defending the party’s decision, Jani used whataboutery by saying that some other people such as Mukhtar Ansari and Raja Bhaiyya have more serious cases against them than Regar. In the same sentence he also claimed that Regar is innocent.
In October last year, Amit Jani and his associated were taken under arrest by a Special Task Force team, for allegedly posting a modified picture of the Taj Mahal momument. They had then displayed saffron flags over the minarets and circulated the image on whatsapp.
In the WhatsApp post, Jani had appealed all members associated with various Hindu organisations to gather at Taj on 3rd November last year, triggering panic and rumours in Agra. Following this, an FIR had been registered against him.
