Bollywood actor Sunny Deol might have been very vocal about his sentiments about Pakistan in reel life but in real life, the candidate from a party which flaunts Nationalism, seems to be disconnected from ground realities, especially connected with the defence forces of India.
In a brief byte to NDTV, Deol lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that he had been doing a great job and thus he wants Modi to continue with his great job.
“After all to keep the nation together and take it forward are signs of a good leader.”
However, when the reporter questions him over his views on Balakot air strike, Sunny Deol seems to have heard the word “Balakot” for the first time. He quotes:
“I do not know much about issues like Balakot strikes or India’s relations with Pakistan. I am here to serve people; if I win maybe I will have an opinion, right now I don’t.”

This is the same Sunny Deol who on February 19, 2019, had tweeted a “heart wrenching” video of our martyrs who laid their lives in the Pulwama attack.
Therefore, it comes as an even bigger shock that Deol was unaware of Balakot air strikes.
The 62-year-old actor is now the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Gurdaspur, Punjab, where he is presently campaigning.
While BJP chooses to slam Congress on Dynasty politics everytime, Sunny’s reason for joining the BJP was not different either:
“My father and I, we all live together. He had joined Vajpayee Ji and now I want to join PM Modi.”
Sunny’s stepmom, Hema Malini too has been given a BJP ticket from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.
In 2017, the Congress had wrested the Gurdaspur constituency from the BJP after its candidate Sunil Jakhar won by a huge margin of 1.9 lakh votes. The seat had fallen vacant after the death of yesteryear Bollywood superstar Vinod Khanna who successfully fought 4 elections from the constituency.
