Oh Boy! Ravi Shastri just said on live TV, “thodi der ke liye waha par g*** muh me tha”

Head Coach Ravi Shastri with Indian Captain Virat Kohli

On Monday, India withstood a spirited late-order fightback from Australia, to win by 31 runs at Adelaide Oval to take a 1-0 lead in the battle for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The hosts were dismissed for 291 shortly before tea on day five, as they fell short of the target of 323.

Indian coach Ravi Shastri suggested skipping practice sessions ahead of the second Test saying that the visitors need rest.ย He was in a candid mood cherishing a memorable 31-run win against hosts Australia in the opening Test. However, his ‘taking rest’ remark was criticised heavily by cricket lovers online.

He clarified that India had suffered back-to-back defeats in South Africa and England but began the series in Australia on a positive note, registering their first opening Test win on Australian soil. He quoted:

โ€œWe lost the first Test in England by 31, lost the first Test in South Africa by 60-70, so this is a very good feeling for the boys to come out on top. When you get off to a good start, thereโ€™s belief.”

Shastri seemed to be relieved after undergoing huge condemnation for the England test series debacle in September this year.

However, today the team’s head coach expressed his anxiety with a tongue-in-cheek comment during a television interview. He was quizzed about hisย emotions that he went through during the final day of the Test match against Australia, to which Shastri in Hindi referred to the resilience of his testicular fortitude, but added that this particular resilience was indeed tested. He laughed off by saying:

“I just said in Hindi just a little while ago bilkul chhorenge nahi, lekin thodi der ke liye waha par g*** muh me tha.”
