Himachal Pradesh : 13 people dead after jeep falls in deep gorge near Shimla


13 people died after a vehicle swerved off a road in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla district on Saturday, a police official said. The accident happened at Snail, three kilometres from Kuddu on Tiyuni Road.

Three injured people, including a child, had been admitted to Rohru hospital, Shimla’s superintendent of police Omapati Jamwal said. A police team led by Jubbal Station House Officer and Swara police post in-charge is at the accident site, he added.

The 10 people who died on the spot included four women while the three injured which included a child were taken to the Rohru Hospital in Shimla.

A senior police official from the Shimla Police told the media,

“The accident happened at Snail, three kilometers from Kuddu on Tiyuni Road. The injured have been taken to the Rohru Hospital in Shimla. An investigation is underway and a police team is on the accident spot.”

The state has witnessed a plenty of bus accidents this year. Last month on 23rd August, at least 11 people were killed in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu after a car rolled down a hill. The fatal accident took place near Rohtang at Rani Nallah in Kullu district of the hill state.

In yet another unfortunate incident in April this year around 27 school children lost their life after a bus ferrying them fell into a gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district.
